Insert your own “bringing the Hammer down” joke

It is unreasonable how much of an optimistic lift this has given me:

U.S. house majority leader DeLay indicted, steps down temporarily – Wikinews
U.S House of Representatives majority leader Tom DeLay was indicted today by a Travis County Texas grand jury on conspiracy charges. DeLay announced that he will step down temporarily from his leadership position.

The Wikinews page has a link to the actual indictment as well, for those of you who are all about primary sources.

The NYT also has the story, of course, under the even more makes-me-smile headline “DeLay Is Indicted and Forced to Step Down as Majority Leader“.

I know that the eventual resolution of this will once again crush my soul, but this at least is a moment of hope.

Of course, even if DeLay got what he deserved, that’s just the start of the Augean Stable job.
