Disappointment

Please, allow me to share with you a graphical representation of the most disappointing thing about my recent business trip to Australia.

It occurred during my return trip through Heathrow, Terminal 3.

This is the current map of Terminal 3:

Terminal 3, mid-2009

This is slightly different than my mental picture of what Terminal 3 looks like, which is apparently a good half year out of date. This is what the terminal used to look like, and how I expected it to look. See if you can figure out what my disappointment was with the current layout.

Damn! I stopped at that store every time I went to India. So sad.

I browsed there longingly on every other trip through Heathrow, but the reality is that the only stuff I wanted to get from them that I couldn’t more easily get at home (or in Boston) was the ridiculously rare and expensive stuff. And, of course, carrying the bottle around is a bit of a pain.

However, on this particular trip I was planning to get one of those bottles–I had even set some money aside expressly for that–and look what happens. Sigh.
