Danny Michel On CBC

Danny Michel

Thanks to a timely pointer from George Jones, I managed to catch Danny’s appearance on the national radio program Sounds Like Canada this morning. This is same Danny oft-mentioned here before, and with whom I had my recent short bit of “life on tour”, which I still haven’t written up.

And, since I am still too busy to generate real content for you, I have packaged up the relevant clip, including a few minutes of interview with “CBC mascot” Jian Ghomeshi–where you can hear Danny speak heresy about David Bowie on national radio, and give a shoutout to Halifax1–and a really low-fi 2version of Midnight Train. Hey, it might inspire you to go buy the album.

  1. It’s heresy because you aren’t allowed to say it, not because it isn’t true. What’s that line about Bowie claiming in the Seventies that he couldn’t write a good song without cocaine, and then going straight and proving it in the Eighties?(back)
  2. “i.e. Internet streaming 32K”(back)

It isn’t true! I actually think Bowie’s strongest work was all in the 90’s.

Different squids for different kids, I guess.

I have all Bowie’s albums, and there isn’t a thing after Scary Monsters that I would trade for any of the albums that preceded it.
