My progeny Simpsonified

This weekend my local comic shop had local Renaissance manWhat else do you call someone who is a sketch comic, a puppeteer, a cartoonist, a bon vivant, and a comic book artist, among other things? Mike Holmes in the store doing Simpsons-style caricatures of people who came by.

While I passed on the chance, for fear of looking a little too much like Comic Book Guy in the finished result, Sarah was quite excited about the opportunity. I am fairly certain that she totally charmed Mike while she was being drawn. She was very pleased with the results–in fact, she quite proudly posed for the shop’s owner to take a picture that will probably be posted soon. (The shop has snapshots from the first two times they did this, if you are interested.)

You can see where Mike worked it out in the bluelines, and then inked in the image.

I cleaned up the scan, taking it to black and white, and removing smudges and scanner artifacts:

And then I coloured it in this morning with some help from Sarah, to get this final result:
