Wow. Some people are so dumb it would take them an hour to make minute rice. I want to get that site’s customer list so I can do a tour and just slap people upside the head. Or possibly sell them them my air purifying apparatus, which takes advantage of non-commutative loop space in M5-branes to make air vibrationally harmonic.

UPDATE: That page appears to have disappeared, but you can still see some of the madness at the root page of the domain. Or, at lots of other domain names all for the same thing.

No blogging tonight. I got distracted. In fact, I think probably not even enough sleep.

A Pacifica Madagascar Spice candle makes a room smell exactly like I think a Malay opium den would smell. Actually, it doesn’t smell at all like such a place would really smell, but whenever I walk into a room where it’s burning that’s still what pops into my mind–I feel like I’m about to rescue some Victorian adventurer from his own failings. The Pacifica Tibetan Mountain Temple soap, on the other hand, is like a big ol’ block of pure, concentrated, Old Spice.

I’m not sure who I feel more pity for: my poor wife, who suddenly has to spend (at least) three unanticipated extra hours in Pearson with our four-year old daughter, or my poor daughter, who has to spend three extra hours in an airport with my wife. And people ask my why I hate air travel…

For the record, none of the 104 Chris McLarens on Facebook are me. I do not expect this to change. Also, at present, none of the 23 Chris McLarens at LinkedIn are me–although I expect this will probably change shortly. The top Google result for Chris McLaren, with or without the quotes, is very much me, however.

So, it seems my post about getting the swank edition of From Hell, has caught the attention of Eddie Campbell himself, and he tells some of the story of how that edition came to be. Another great side effect of this is that a couple of the other owners of the swank edition put up links to scans of the paintings in their copies.

Boy, that was a good movie. Peter O’Toole and Joseph Bologna are so good, that I can forget how much I want to punch Cousin Larry every time he’s on the screen.

Upgrade to WordPress 2.7 was painless, save for the extended tagging plugin I use needing a bit of code tweaking (I’m sure there will be a new version along shortly with 2.7 support, but I was able to make it work for now anyway). Nice UI.

Did you see the page of spirit photography that Jeff Ford linked to the other day? That stuff is pretty cool, especially in the historical context. I admit, though, that it makes me want to see if I could use my meagre Photoshop skills to cook up something similar from some digital photographs.

Remember when Microsoft had the genius idea of embedding code inside documents–remember how that worked out from a security perspective? Remember when browsers started allowing executable code to be embedded in the pages–there was no security problem with that, right? So clearly the best thing for us to do is to add a new way to embed natively executable code in web pages. There’s no way that could go wrong, right?

Wow, I hope this is accurate. I’m totally willing to trade for the chaos to get out from under.
