Yes, this is a link post.

Each one of these links is something I’ve run into lately that makes me wonder if I’m still in the real world… or at least has made me suspect there is something subtly off about things around me…

• “Michael Jackson is in discussions about creating a 50-foot robotic replica of himself to roam the Las Vegas desert, according to reports.” This is totally a 50s monster movie in the making.
• “I saw an illustration of a boxing match between Santa Claus and Ghandi. I haven’t decided if it’s genius or moronic.” I know which way I would vote. Also, Ghandi will kick Santa’s ass–he’s wiry.
• I don’t have a quote for this one, but the video of the beat-detecting robot doing it’s thing kind of speaks for itself.
• John McCain: “Today I announce that I have reversed my position and come out in full support of gay marriage…particularly marriage between passionate females.” (The headline is erroneous. There was no “hacking” here, but there was some seriously intense comedy.)
• ‘America’s Next Top Model 8′: Week Four: Crime Scene Victims. If that title doesn’t tell you all you need to know about the kind of world we live in… And, the whole thing confirms both all my prejudices about the reality TV audience, and about the twisted emotional relationship between models and the industry that uses them.
• “8. Is there life on other planets?
  A: “It is not worthwhile to go around the world to count the cats in Zanzibar.“
  I didn’t know that life had a FAQ, but if it did it would probably look like this. And that might explain the bizarro vibes lately…
• Everyone Wants To Touch My Giant Snake And Jewels. Some of those are genius.
• All this time as an atheist, and I never looked at the peanut butter sandwich under my nose. Well, I’m convinced now. Someone tell Pete Stark. And Richard Dawkins.
• “I may nothing to you, but I am a KING beneath the sea!” From the Ookla The Mok song “Arthur Curry 2007″, available for streaming from their MySpace page. If you’ve ever read DC superhero comics, this will make you laugh. I kind of like living in a world where a band like Ookla The Mok can exist.
• Do you ever watch 30 Rock? You should, Alec Baldwin is apparently a comedy genius. However, in the bizzaro world we live in, apparently Tracy Morgan is pretty much actually identical to his character Tracy Jordan.
• “Sinner please come upon my body“, from this full photoset. I kind of like living in the weird world where this kind of thing can exist, but I prefer to have it far away from me. Unlike say Crazy Horse Mountain, which both fills me with the good weird, and which I wouldn’t mind having in my backyard.
• “Israel has recalled its ambassador to El Salvador after he was found drunk and naked apart from bondage gear.” This makes me think there was a James Bond movie happening behind the scenes.
