Except, you know, in the music industry. It&#8217;s a pathological love song.<\/dd>\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/www.puremusic.com\/66tw3.html\">Aengus Finnan<\/a> &#8226; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aengusfinnan.com\/lyrics\/lyrics6.html\">Fly Away<\/a> (from <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aengusfinnan.com\/reviews-singout-foolsgold.html\">Fool&#39;s Gold<\/a><\/em>)<\/dt>\n<dd>A boy&#39;s love song for his Dad. This will also completely break your heart if you let it. Especially the bit about the razor-blade &amp; ash tattoo. Heard live this can reduce strong men to tears. The true story that inspired this song is one of the reasons why Aengus isn&#8217;t a teacher any more.<\/dd>\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thewaifs.com\/\">The Waifs<\/a> &#8226; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lyricstime.com\/the-waifs-when-i-die-lyrics.html\">When I Die<\/a> (from <em><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sink_or_Swim_%28album%29\">Sink or Swim<\/a><\/em>)<\/dt>\n<dd>A girl&#39;s love song for her home town. This is pretty much straight up love, but love of a place. The Waifs are a pretty great Aussie group that have done quite a bit of touring in Canada, considering the distance.<\/dd>\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theagilmore.com\/\">Thea Gilmore<\/a> &#8226; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.plyrics.com\/lyrics\/buzzcocks\/everfalleninlovewithsomeoneyoushouldntvefalleninlovewith.html\">Ever Fall In Love<\/a> (from <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theagilmore.com\/Finalshg\/loft.htm\">Loft Music<\/a><\/em>)<\/dt>\n<dd>Gilmore is a great songwriter herself, but this is, of course, a cover of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ycQXK30Ofls\">the Buzzcocks tune<\/a>. It&#39;s a painfully catchy cover, though, and you will find yourself humming it afterwards. Anyway, it&#39;s hard to complain about a happy version of a song about being in love with exactly the wrong person. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=jRE79bxfMtY\">The original<\/a><\/strong>.<\/dd>\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Thin_Lizzy\">Thin Lizzy<\/a> &#8226; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lyricsfreak.com\/t\/thin+lizzy\/angel+from+the+coast_20136611.html\">Angel From The Coast<\/a> (from <em><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jailbreak_%28album%29\">Jailbreak<\/a><\/em>)<\/dt>\n<dd>Miracles, jet set hit women, poker-playing wild card women, fallen drunks, and criminal love. How can you go wrong? U2 can go fuck themselves, this is the best rock band from Dublin.<\/dd>\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Pogues\">The Pogues<\/a> &#8226; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pogues.com\/Releases\/Lyrics\/LPs\/IfIShould\/Shannon.html\">The Broad Majestic Shannon<\/a> (from <em><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/If_I_Should_Fall_from_Grace_with_God\">If I Should Fall From Grace With God<\/a><\/em>)<\/dt>\n<dd>Speaking of Irish things&#8230; here you go, the closest you&#8217;ll get to a straight up love song. Of course in this one there is parting, one of the people is always crying, etc. It slides in because it&#8217;s also about being in love with a place and the memories it holds, where ever you roam. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Yuy-viF-7Yw\">Live in 1988<\/a><\/strong><\/dd>\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sonsofmaxwell.com\/\">Sons of Maxwell<\/a> &#8226; <a href=\"http:\/\/forum.literotica.com:81\/showpost.php?s=0579e8848dd014777a63e49d3ed3caee&#038;p=10438843&#038;postcount=153\">The Lighthouse<\/a> (from <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.maplemusic.com\/product.asp?dept%5Fid=326&#038;pf%5Fid=325%2D01&#038;lang=EN\">The Neighbourhood<\/a><\/em>)<\/dt>\n<dd>A love song for a hooker, or a paen to the notion of emotional suicide? U-Decide! Me, I&#8217;m thinking that the idea that a lighthouse could be a beacon to suicidal ships, as well as a warning to healthy ones, maps VERY, VERY nicely onto certain kinds of human relationships. I especially love that this song sounds like it should be a simpler romantic tune, when listening to the words shows it to be so much darker, and so much more interesting.<\/dd>\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/www.judyhenske.com\/\">Judy Henske<\/a> &#8226; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrismclaren.com\/blog\/2007\/02\/08\/if-linda-ronstadt-is-a-torch-singer-then-judy-henske-is-a-flame-thrower\/\">Wish I Had My Old Guitar<\/a> (from <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Loose-World-Judy-Henske\/dp\/B00004TKHR\">Loose In The World<\/a><\/em>)<\/dt>\n<dd>A love song for the bad old days. When we&#39;re old and comfortable, sometimes we look unreasonably fondly on the times when we weren&#39;t either. Also, references the Happiest Place on Earth.<\/dd>\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/www.richardthompson-music.com\/\">Richard Thompson<\/a> &#8226; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.richardthompson-music.com\/song_o_matic.asp?id=184\">God Loves A Drunk<\/a> (from <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.richardthompson-music.com\/album.asp?id=24\">Rumor and Sigh<\/a><\/em>)<\/dt>\n<dd>God&#39;s unconditional love. Doesn&#39;t mean much to an atheist, but it makes for a really nice, really dark song. And when I say &#8220;doesn&#8217;t mean much&#8221;, that doesn&#8217;t mean I don&#8217;t get wistful at the idea of &#8220;no shakes and no horrors&#8221;. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=P-noSz2XsIY\">Live<\/a><\/strong><\/dd>\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/kebmo.net\/\">Keb&#39; Mo&#39;<\/a> &#8226; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lyricstime.com\/keb-mo-you-can-love-yourself-lyrics.html\">You Can Love Yourself<\/a> (from <em><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Just_Like_You_%28Keb%27_Mo%27_album%29\">Just Like You<\/a><\/em>)<\/dt>\n<dd>A blues song with sexual double entendres? Shocking, shocking I say. It amuses me that some people hear this song as a straight up paen to self-esteem and completely miss the saucier meanings.<\/dd>\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/www.timmalloys.com\/\">The Tim Malloys<\/a> &#8226; <a href=\"http:\/\/cms.irlandseiten.de\/index.php?option=com_content&#038;task=view&#038;id=240&#038;Itemid=67\">One Night In Boston<\/a> (from <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rambles.net\/timmalloys_dbb.html\">Drunkards, Bastards, and Blackguards<\/a><\/em>)<\/dt>\n<dd>A love song, of sorts, for a long lost love. (My buddy Adam wrote the song, and sings it&#8212;this is important to know, for the &#8220;knew me from Adam&#8221; bit). I love the structure of this song, especially how it ends. Also, the whole lyric around the  &#8220;who wouldn&#8217;t give absolution?&#8221; part blows me away.<\/dd>\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Junkhouse\">Junkhouse<\/a> &#8226; No Way Out Of Love (The Rounder)<footnote>How is it that I can&#8217;t dind lyrics for this online? Shocking.<\/footnote> (from <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Strays-Junkhouse\/dp\/B000008H6E\">Strays<\/a><\/em>)<\/dt>\n<dd>Hamilton&#39;s one-time bad boys of rock and roll do a song about love and gambling. Love as an inescapable trap, and the slow spiral of the female gambler.<\/dd>\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jim_Croce\">Jim Croce<\/a> &#8226; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lyricstime.com\/jim-croce-king-s-song-lyrics.html\">King&#39;s Song<\/a> (from <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Words-Music-Jim-Croce\/dp\/B00001IVKU\">Words and Music<\/a><\/em>)<\/dt>\n<dd>I could have used half a dozen Croce songs here, but this is the one that&#39;s newest-to-me, so it&#39;s in my head. And it&#39;s a whole different kind of &#8220;love gone wrong&#8221; story.<\/dd>\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Cult\">The Cult<\/a> &#8226; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.80smusiclyrics.com\/song\/Edie.htm\">Edie (Ciao Baby)<\/a> (from <em><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sonic_Temple\">Sonic Temple<\/a><\/em>)<\/dt>\n<dd>This song is about Edie Sedgwick. The same woman who inspired Dylan&#39;s &quot;Just Like a Woman&quot; and &quot;Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat&quot;, as well as &#8220;Femme Fatale&#8221; by the Velvet Underground, &#8220;Little Miss S.&#8221; by Edie Brickell, and a whole lot of other songs. It&#39;s technically a love song, albeit a love song to a tragic figure from decades ago&#8230; This song always makes me think of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Erica_Ehm\">Erica Ehm<\/a>.<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zpkVt9XTdtg\">Video<\/a><\/strong>.<\/dd>\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jim_White\">Jim White<\/a> &#8226; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.azlyrics.com\/lyrics\/jimwhite\/thewoundthatneverheals.html\">The Wound That Never Heals<\/a> (from <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/No-Such-Place-Jim-White\/dp\/B000056P0W\">No Such Place<\/a><\/em>)<\/dt>\n<dd>A nice little serial killer love song. There aren&#39;t enough Black Widow tunes, you know.
