Whatever is not claimed by mid-July will go some other way. I&#8217;m leaning toward donating them to the hospital library at this point. Post your requests, don&#8217;t email me&#8211;that way I won&#8217;t forget what you wanted and everyone can see what&#8217;s already gone.<\/p>\n<p>This time the list is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Robert_Anton_Wilson\">Robert Anton Wilson<\/a>&#8216;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rawilson.com\/bookstore.shtml#historical\">Historical Illuminatus Chronicles<\/a> &#8211; <em>Less fun than the Chronicles, but perhaps the most linear of Wilson&#8217;s fictions. Worth the read just for the Paris\/mistress joke<\/em><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.home.earthlink.net\/~icshi\/\">A. E. Van Vogt<\/a>&#8216;s <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Slan\">Slan<\/a> &#8211; <em>I enjoyed this book a lot when I read it as a teen. I can&#8217;t enjoy it anymore because I have severe cognitive dissonance these days when the title makes me think of a certain kind of person with a &#8220;fans are Slans&#8221; button and a propeller beanie<\/em><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.watt-evans.com\/dennerswreck.html\">Denner&#8217;s Wreck<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.watt-evans.com\/\">Lawrence Watt-Evans<\/a> &#8211; <em>It&#8217;s no Lord of Light, but it&#8217;s a readable slim novel<\/em><\/li>\n<li>The first two <a href=\"http:\/\/www.watt-evans.com\/thelordsofdus.html\">Lords of D\u00fbs<\/a> books by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.watt-evans.com\/\">Lawrence Watt-Evans<\/a> &#8211; <em>This was definitely one of the first pure fantasy series that I read when I started on &#8220;proper&#8221; novels (as oppposed to &#8220;kids&#8221; books like the L&#8217;Engle stuff), and I have no idea how it will read now. I had to get the Wildside omnibus for sentimental reasons, and now I&#8217;m kind of scared to read it<\/em><\/li>\n<li>The first <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sector_General\">Sector General<\/a> book, and a collection of short stories, by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sectorgeneral.com\/\">James White<\/a> &#8211; <em>I love that the SFBC did Sector General omnibi, and I worry that recent changes there will mean this kind of thing stops happening<\/em><\/li>\n<li><del>The first two <a href=\"http:\/\/www.walterjonwilliams.net\/rock1.htm\">Drake Maijstral <\/a>books by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.walterjonwilliams.net\/\">Walter Jon Williams<\/a><\/del> &#8211; <em>When the author himself classifies novels as &#8216;divertimenti&#8217; you know you aren&#8217;t in for a Big Serious read&#8211;accept that and enjoy a really great romp with an Allowed Burglar in a future aristocracy, and don&#8217;t miss the scathing criticism of celebrity-for-its-own-sake<\/em><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nightshadebooks.com\/book.aspx?bookid=163\">Voice Of The Whirlwind<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.walterjonwilliams.net\/\">Walter Jon Williams<\/a> &#8211; <em>Hardwired was a big deal to me when I read it as a teenager, so naturally I sought out the &#8220;kind of&#8221; sequel<\/em><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Facets-Walter-Jon-Williams\/dp\/0812501810\">Facets<\/a>, a short story collection by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.walterjonwilliams.net\/\">Walter Jon Williams<\/a> &#8211; <em>I really like Williams. A lot.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><del><a href=\"http:\/\/www.leemac.freeserve.co.uk\/\">Diana Wynne Jones<\/a>&#8216; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.leemac.freeserve.co.uk\/adults.htm#deep\">Deep Secret<\/a><\/del> &#8211; <em>Afraid to read Diana because her stuff is usually in the kids section? Try this packaged-for-grownups multiple-worlds fantasy as a way to get over your YA phobia.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.leemac.freeserve.co.uk\/\">Diana Wynne Jones<\/a>&#8216; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.leemac.freeserve.co.uk\/power.htm\">Power Of Three<\/a> &#8211; <em>&#8230;then try this straight up YA work<\/em><\/li>\n<li><del><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lord_of_Light\">Lord of Light<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/zelazny.corrupt.net\/\">Roger Zelanzy<\/a><\/del> &#8211; <em>Surely one of the ten finest science fiction novels of all time<\/em><\/li>\n<li><del><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Isle_of_the_Dead_%28novel%29\">Isle Of The Dead<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Roger_Zelazny\">Roger Zelazny<\/a><\/del> &#8211; <em>Another damn fine novel<\/em><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Doors_of_His_Face%2C_The_Lamp_of_His_Mouth%2C_and_Other_Stories\">The Doors Of His Face, The Lamps Of His Mouth<\/a>, a short story collection by <a href=\"http:\/\/zelazny.corrupt.net\/\">Roger Zelazny<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.geocities.com\/Area51\/Rampart\/2547\/fantasy6.htm\">The Golden<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lucius-shepard.com\/\">Lucius Shepard<\/a> &#8211; <em>Possibly my favourite vampire novel whose title is not also a punchline to that <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Riddle#Contemporary_riddles\">lame door joke<\/a><\/em><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michaelmarshallsmith.com\/booksfold\/marshsfold\/marshs.html#of\">Only Forward<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.michaelmarshallsmith.com\/\">Michael Marshall Smith<\/a> &#8211; <em>This is a novel for people who like mad ideas and don&#8217;t mind a gear shift in mid-story (if, for example, you hated it when From Dusk Til Dawn switched from a road movie into a vampire movie, this is not the book for you, although it is neither contemporary nor about vampires)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><del>The entire <a href=\"http:\/\/www.outel.org\/decomposed\/goe\/lensfaq.html\">Lensman<\/a> series by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/E._E._Smith\">E. E. &#8220;Doc&#8221; Smith<\/a> <\/del>&#8211; <em>Bless the SFBC for putting this Old Skool pulp, perhaps the sine qua non of all Space Opera, into omnibi<\/em><\/li>\n<li><del>Three <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/E._E._Smith#Skylark_series\">Skylark<\/a> books by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/E._E._Smith\">E. E. &#8220;Doc&#8221; Smith<\/a><\/del> &#8211; <em>ditto, except with less excitement<\/em><\/li>\n<li><del><a href=\"http:\/\/www.suite101.com\/article.cfm\/sf_and_society\/39934\">Deus X<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/ourworld.compuserve.com\/homepages\/normanspinrad\/\">Norman Spinrad<\/a><\/del><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/freespace.virgin.net\/diri.gini\/angelof.htm\">Angel of Pain<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/freespace.virgin.net\/diri.gini\/carnival.htm\">The Carnival of Destruction<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/freespace.virgin.net\/diri.gini\/brian.htm\">Brian Stableford<\/a> &#8211; <em>For the record, these two, and the predecessor Werewolves of London, were both not at all what I expected based on the titles, and were much better books than I expected&#8211;Fin-de-si\u00e8cle-extended-to-the-end-of-the-WWI-era intellectual horror with no hint of Warren Zevon<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Two short story collections by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allensteele.com\/\">Allen Steele<\/a> &#8211; <em>Steele&#8217;s first book about Deadhead construction workers in orbit (and the NSA spying on us) pretty much made me a long term fan. His stories are pretty fine for the most part<\/em><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfreader.com\/read_review.asp?book=462\">The Jericho Iteration<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allensteele.com\/\">Allen Steele<\/a> &#8211; <em>Steele&#8217;s crack at the near future disaster novel<\/em><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.xmission.com\/~tyranist\/scifi\/reviews\/ClarkeCountySpace.html\">Clarke County, Space<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allensteele.com\/\">Allen Steele<\/a> &#8211; <em>if a novel with a Sheriff in a space colony, an assassin, and the joys of the Church of Elvis, sounds like it might be up your alley, the pick this one up<\/em><\/li>\n<li><del><a href=\"http:\/\/www.infinityplus.co.uk\/nonfiction\/distract.htm\">Distraction<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bruce_Sterling\">Bruce Sterling<\/a><\/del> &#8211; <em>every time I read a Bruce Sterling novel it&#8217;s better than I expected it to be, even when I take into account this phenomenon<\/em><\/li>\n<li><del><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seanstewart.org\/novels\/resurrectionman\/\">Resurrection Man<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seanstewart.org\/\">Sean Stewart<\/a><\/del> &#8211; <em>an excellent contemporary fantasy<\/em><\/li>\n<li><del><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seanstewart.org\/novels\/thenightwatch\/\">Night Watch<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seanstewart.org\/\">Sean Stewart<\/a><\/del> &#8211; <em>one of my personal ten favourite fantasy novels&#8211;among other things it exactly captures the differences between the essences of two major Canadian cities<\/em><\/li>\n<li><del><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Leave_it_to_Psmith\">Leave It To Psmith<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pgwodehousebooks.com\/\">P. G.
