I live <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/servlet\/story\/RTGAM.20061226.wboxingd1226\/BNStory\/National\/home\">somewhere people would rather have a day off than shop<\/a>, and even today the only shopping I did was to take <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gagneint.com\/Final%20site\/misc\/poster\/prints_for_sale.htm\">some stuff<\/a> in to get framed at the half price framing sale.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/shetterly.blogspot.com\/2006\/12\/how-rich-are-you.html\">Will<\/a> points us to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalrichlist.com\/index.php\">Global Rich List<\/a>, which helps put some things into perspective. Apparently I am well into the top 0.5% of world incomes, which should make it hard for me to bitch, and should make my 10% charity target seem insufficient.<\/li>\n<li>If you want to get someone drunk, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foodpsychology.cornell.edu\/new_findings\/glass_shapes.htm\">pour their drinks into a wide glass<\/a>. (And give them salty peanuts, I guess.)<\/li>\n<li>I think my approach to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.honda-tech.com\/zerothread?id=1845064&#038;page=1\">a swarm of bees<\/a> would be considerably less redneck than this fellow&#8217;s. Reading the comments will both amuse you and lower your IQ.<\/li>\n<li>OK, check out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.news.com.au\/story\/0,23599,20972466-2,00.html\">that picture of the Pope<\/a>, and tell me he isn&#8217;t sucking the souls out of those little boys. &#8220;Aaaah yes, I must consume the life force of virgin boys FOR CHRIST!&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>I see Entertainment Weekly has named my poker-pal&#8217;s book as their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ew.com\/ew\/report\/0,6115,1572715-3-6_5||1571322|1_,00.html\">Best Independent-Publisher Comic<\/a> for 2006.<\/li>\n<li>You know how Whitey McWhite can get strange looks from his family? Spend Christmas Day constantly breaking into &#8220;Say It Loud, I&#8217;m Black And I&#8217;m Proud&#8221; instead of Christmas carols. Even if <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikinews.org\/wiki\/James_Brown_dies_of_pneumonia\">they know why<\/a>, they will still give you looks.<\/li>\n<li>So, HD-DVD or Blu-Ray? I think <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theinquirer.net\/default.aspx?article=36574\">the answer is obvious<\/a>. (I hope that this, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cs.auckland.ac.nz\/~pgut001\/pubs\/vista_cost.txt\">the imminent death<\/a> of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2006\/12\/25\/technology\/25vista.html?ei=5090&#038;en=49a6ffcc2da87302&#038;ex=1324702800&#038;partner=rssuserland&#038;emc=rss&#038;pagewanted=print\">Vista<\/a>, marks the end of DRM-riddled anti-consumerist tactics.)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/neoncobra.blogspot.com\/2006\/12\/african-kings.html\">African Kings<\/a>? I have no actual knowledge that these photos are authentic, but they sure show a wide range of styles.<\/li>\n<li>Speaking of things I can&#8217;t verify: &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tbo.com\/life\/MGBUFCRF5WE.html\">13. Ancient humans from Asia may have entered the Americas following an ocean highway made of dense kelp.<\/a>&#8221; Say what?<\/li>\n<li>I admit, the list of posts at the end of the Wired article on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/news\/culture\/0,71720-0.html\">The Ultimate Blog Post<\/a> made me laugh.<\/li>\n<li>QOTD: &#8220;Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom.
