Look, I didn’t want Ignatieff. He pissed me off.<\/p>\n
I was interested in seeing how Bob Rae would have played out. I think that would have been fun to watch either way–if he transcended his baggage in Ontario, or if it was a glorious disaster. (Certainly, as an NDP, it would have been interesting to see a former NDP Premier become a federal Liberal leader.)<\/p>\n
But this result kind of surprises me.<\/p>\n
I like how Mercer wraps it up<\/a>, though:<\/p>\n At the end of the day though, watching Dion on stage, I couldn\u2019t help but be amazed at his physical presence. The Liberals went into this convention with a host of choices. They could have gone with a battle-tested politician, a former athlete, a world famous academic or a food bank founder from the West; at the end of the day they choose the nerd.<\/p>\n That\u2019s pretty Canadian<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Of course, all I really want from a Liberal leader is someone who can get Harper out of office.
