… if I called in “Guantanamo” on Monday, instead of showing up in Boston for work. “Calling in Gitmo” is the international travellers trump-card version of “calling in sick” here at the beginning of the third millenium.<\/p>\n

If I had seen the t-shirt below a while ago, instead of just now, I would totally have ordered one, and would have tried to wear it on my flight to BostonUnless my better judgement–a.k.a. Trish–prevailed.<\/footnote>. I probably wouldn’t have been able to avoid mouthing off to the TSA guy about civil liberties and security theatre either. Hence “calling in Gitmo”I did once actually have to “call in jail” for work. Long story.<\/footnote>.<\/p>\n
