Digital enhancements? &#8220;&#8230;magazine publishers in the US ban stars from appearing on their front covers unless they have at least a C-cup size, or are willing to be digitally enhanced to make it appear as if they have&#8221;?!??! Man, we really are all crazy. Does no one remember <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0090305\/\">Weird Science<\/a><footnote>Is there really a whole generation now that doesn&#8217;t know the &#8220;I know female stats. Anything more than a handful and you&#8217;re risking a sprained tongue&#8221; line? <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0000455\/\">John Hughes<\/a>, why have you forsaken us? Did they take an important bit out of your brain in 1990?<\/footnote>? The worst part of the whole &#8220;adjust the world digitally&#8221; thing is that it feeds back into the creation of unrealistic expectations, which in turn drives the need to alter the world (either digitally, or via implants\/botox\/etc). Sigh.<\/li>\n<li>Damn that&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sreedhara.com\/2006\/07\/25\/the-biggest-hole-in-the-world-great-photos\/\">a big hole<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>I love reading <a href=\"http:\/\/fsm.typepad.com\/hatemail\/\">the hate mail<\/a> that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.venganza.org\/\">the Flying Spaghetti Monster site<\/a> generates. It&#8217;s great to see so much tolerance, peace, and understanding on display from these nominal Christians. Plus, I&#8217;m learning lots of things about the rest ratios of infinite beings, and  about logic. Like <a href=\"http:\/\/fsm.typepad.com\/hatemail\/2006\/07\/your_offensive_.html\">this<\/a>: &#8220;The bible clearly establishes a maximum one to six day resting ratio for the creation of the universe by an infante[sic] being. Ok, I&#8217;ll be sympathetic to your tortured logic and explain how mankind knows that the bible is the word of god. 1. the bible is infallible.&#8221; I need popcorn while I read this.<\/li>\n<li>I laughed a lot at <a href=\"http:\/\/xkcd.com\/c45.html\">this cartoon<\/a>. A lot. That probably tells you a lot about me.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dutchguard.com\/p-icarta-ipod-roll.html\">Seriously?<\/a> Um&#8230; listen, if  you think you need this, you are spending <em>waaaay<\/em> too much time in your bathroom. See your family doctor.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Robert_Johnson\">Robert Johnson<\/a>&#8216;s guitar might actually be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rjguitar.com\/enter.php?page=10\">worth six million dollars<\/a>. Maybe. I mean, it might have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.deltahaze.com\/johnson\/legend.html\">met The Devil<\/a>, right? However, before I coughed up $6,000,000 I might want to see a slightly more decisive provenance than &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rjguitar.com\/enter.php?page=2\">kind of looks like the one in a photo<\/a>&#8220;.<\/li>\n<li>Attention young celebrities: <a href=\"http:\/\/news.aol.com\/entertainment\/articles\/_a\/harry-potter-actor-to-be-naked-on-stage\/20060728104009990001?cid=918\">getting naked<\/a> does not prove you are all grown up.<footnote>Read any <a href=\"http:\/\/filmforce.ign.com\/articles\/454\/454678p2.html\">interview<\/a> with <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jessica_Biel\">Jessica Biel<\/a> where she talks about her infamous Gear photoshoot for another example.<\/footnote> Also, how weird is this going to be with Harry Potter naked on stage with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.withnail-links.com\/griffiths.htm\">Uncle Monty<\/a><footnote>Maybe you think of him as Uncle Vernon, but he&#8217;s always going to be Uncle Monty to me.<\/footnote>? <\/li>\n<li>Local cartoonist (she&#8217;s local now, even if she is a come-from-away) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hopelarson.com\">Hope Larson<\/a> (who&#8217;s had a couple of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrismclaren.com\/blog\/2006\/02\/01\/shes-from-away\/\">previous <\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrismclaren.com\/blog\/2006\/06\/01\/comics-in-halifax\/\">mentions<\/a>) had <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/imagepages\/2006\/08\/03\/opinion\/04larson.html\">a huge cartoon<\/a> in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\">New York Times<\/a>. (Also available <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hopelarson.com\/illo\/nytcomic.gif\">here<\/a>, in case the Times takes it down.) That&#8217;s pretty damn cool.<\/li>\n<li>I can&#8217;t decide if the existence of <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/europe\/5234194.stm\">ice cap beer<\/a> is brilliant, or tragic, but I would totally try a bottle just to see if it was in any detectable way different from other beers.<\/li>\n<li>Comma placement doesn&#8217;t matter, huh? I&#8217;m crazy to be a pedant about the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/servlet\/story\/RTGAM.20060806.wr-rogers07\/BNStory\/Business\/home\">serial comma<\/a>, huh? What if wrong comma usage cost you over <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/servlet\/story\/RTGAM.20060806.wr-rogers07\/BNStory\/Business\/home\">2 million dollars<\/a>? I love that story.
