That&#8217;s what I get for working with guys in Victoria, I guess.<\/p>\n<p>A while back genius Australian short story writer <a href=\"http:\/\/amongamidwhile.blogspot.com\/2006\/02\/ok-so-it-wasnt-live-after-all.html\">Margo Lanagan posted<\/a> that she had done an interview with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/worldservice\/\">BBC World Service<\/a>&#8216;s program &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/worldservice\/programmes\/the_word.shtml\">The Word<\/a>&#8220;. The short interview is nominally about her brilliant short story collection <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.ca\/exec\/obidos\/redirect?tag=homosum-20%26link_code=xm2%26camp=2025%26creative=165953%26path=http:\/\/www.amazon.ca\/gp\/redirect.html%253fASIN=0060743905%2526tag=homosum-20%2526lcode=xm2%2526cID=2025%2526ccmID=165953%2526location=\/o\/ASIN\/0060743905%25253FSubscriptionId=1D7RNC9A4DZJNRAARVG2\" title=\"View product details at Amazon\">Black Juice<\/a>&#8211;a collection I found to be composed of only note-perfect stories; nothing less than an excellent work among them.<\/p>\n<p>Well, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/worldservice\/programmes\/the_word.shtml\">the program with that interview<\/a> is now up on the site as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/mediaselector\/check\/worldservice\/meta\/tx\/theword?nbram=1&#038;nbwm=1&#038;size=au&#038;lang=en-ws&#038;bgc=003399\">streaming Real audio<\/a>, probably for a week. <\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know why Auntie Beeb sticks with Real Audio&#8230; it&#8217;s annoying for people who A) don&#8217;t want Real on their machines, or B) want to listen to the clips away from their computers&#8211;like in the car, or while jogging, or whatever. They should totally just provide DLs in MP3 format.<\/p>\n<p>Once again, if only someone had converted the Lanagan bits from the stream to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrismclaren.com\/blog\/wp-content\/images\/2006\/03\/lanagan_word_32.mp3\">a simple downloadable MP3 file<\/a>&#8230; that would make things so much easier.
