His post included this bit:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Deutsch is 24 years old, having just graduated with a bachelor\u2019s degree in journalism a few years ago. As a reward for being a loyal Republican party apparatchik, he has been generously appointed to be a Political Officer enforcing doctrine over a bunch of high-falutin\u2019 rocket scientists. Shades of Lysenko!<\/p>\n<p>It must have been a heady feeling to have the power to dictate ideology to a lot of scientists with Ph.D.s.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Well, in a blast of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nbc.com\/My_Name_Is_Earl\/\">Earl<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.well.com\/user\/mick\/na.k-n.html\">karma<\/a>, I read this today on <a href=\"http:\/\/wiredblogs.tripod.com\/sterling\/index.blog?entry_id=1408955\">Bruce Sterling\u2019s blog<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>George C. Deutsch, the young presidential appointee at NASA who told public affairs workers to limit reporters\u2019 access to a top climate scientist and told a Web designer to add the word \u201ctheory\u201d at every mention of the Big Bang, resigned yesterday, agency officials said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Deutsch\u2019s resignation came on the same day that officials at Texas A&#038;M University confirmed that he did not graduate from there, as his resume on file at the agency asserted.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The quotes in Sterling\u2019s piece get even better later on.<\/p>\n<p>Good thing for the Bush administration that this is the first time they\u2019ve appointed someone untterly incompetent.
