Ashcroft Resigns<\/a><\/p>\n

(AP) Attorney General John Ashcroft and Commerce Secretary Don Evans resigned Tuesday, the first members of President Bush’s Cabinet to leave as he headed from re-election into his second term.<\/p>\n

Ashcroft, in a five-page, handwritten letter to Bush, said, “The objective of securing the safety of Americans from crime and terror has been achieved.” <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

So I know these are famous last words, but let me tempt fate anyway: whoever it is, it can’t be worse.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Maybe they should replace him with a dead guy–I hear that’s worked out well in the past.<\/p>\n

Do I even need to comment on the quote from the letter<\/a>? Everything else aside, if that were true, shouldn’t the terror alert be back down to green?<\/p>\n
