I wonder how that happened.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrismclaren.com\/blog\/wp-content\/images\/2005\/11\/mick_al.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chrismclaren.com\/blog\/wp-content\/images\/2005\/11\/_mick_al.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"269\" alt=\"Mick and Al\" title=\"Mick and Al\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s one from a decade ago or so, where you see my roommate Sarah (a.k.a. &#8220;Mick&#8221;), wearing the very same hat that Keith McPhee was wearing at our poker game a few weeks ago, and my old pal Allison (who is also probably a PhD by now) reclining on that horrible life-sucking couch. I do miss that house a little bit, although I am very, very happy not to have to put up with the noise of the student ghetto every night. <\/p>\n<p><!--more--><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrismclaren.com\/blog\/wp-content\/images\/2005\/11\/tfl_emma.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chrismclaren.com\/blog\/wp-content\/images\/2005\/11\/_tfl_emma.jpg\" width=\"256\" height=\"300\" alt=\"Emma and Lorraine\" title=\"Emma and Lorraine\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s another of approximately the same vintage. Here we see the lovely and talented <a href=\"http:\/\/emmabull.blogspot.com\/\">Emma Bull<\/a>, and the frankly fabulous <a href=\"http:\/\/qwertyranch.blogspot.com\/2005\/09\/fabulous-lorraine-by-betsy-pucci.html\">Lorraine Garland<\/a>. This was a concert\/birthday party as I recall (tiara on the birthday girl, of course), but it shall forever be marked in my memory as The Night Of The Two Tubas. <em>&#8220;Two tubas, aye, two tubas are magic.&#8221;<\/em> <\/p>\n<p>(As an aside, I&#8217;ve got another shot from that night showing <a href=\"http:\/\/shetterly.blogspot.com\/\">Will<\/a> looking very hairy. He doesn&#8217;t get his picture posted though since A) Emma is much better looking, and B) I seem to recall him getting me into trouble that night by starting a &#8220;let&#8217;s make fun of Scientology&#8221; discussion with me, while we were sitting at a table with someone he knew to be a Scientologist. I didn&#8217;t know this person was a Scientologist, and I was staying at their house that night, and the fact that I went after old L. Ron with both barrels did later make things a little sticky for me. Pretty funny in retrospect, though.)<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and I have to post this one:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chrismclaren.com\/blog\/wp-content\/images\/2005\/11\/comedy.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"306\" alt=\"Punchline\" title=\"Punchline\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I know how it looks, but this photo is the punchline to a complicated story about me being a completely gormless dunderhead.
