Look, I think of myself as an amateur gourmet, but I was raised lower middle-class and consequently I don’t have to turn up my nose at some things that most amateur gourmets would disdain. (Don’t even get me started on the one legitimate use of Kraft “cheez” slices over real cheese). I can eat packaged foods if they are good–in other words, while I am generally suspicous of prepared foods, I don’t reject them out of hand. <\/p>\n
Anyway, today’s lunch was one of the Fantastic Foods<\/a> “Big Soups”–many of which are really good, by the way. <\/p>\n Today was the sesame-miso flavour, which I normally supplement with a spoonful of garlic “Hot Cock”<\/a>. However, there is no paste currently in my pantry, so I had to improvise.<\/p>\n So I did a “what the hell” and made the soup with a few splashes of Chipotle Tabasco <\/a>(which, by the way, I first had in a Mexican restaurant in Tel Aviv) and it was excellent<\/strong>!<\/p>\n So, here’s a paen to trying something a little different.
