{"id":2757,"date":"2009-07-30T00:41:49","date_gmt":"2009-07-30T04:41:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.chrismclaren.com\/blog\/?p=2757"},"modified":"2009-07-27T22:53:36","modified_gmt":"2009-07-28T02:53:36","slug":"going-to-mars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.chrismclaren.com\/blog\/2009\/07\/30\/going-to-mars\/","title":{"rendered":"Going To Mars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Have you taken a moment to <a href=\"http:\/\/mars9.jpl.nasa.gov\/msl\/participate\/sendyourname\/index.cfm\">add your name to the 2011 Mars mission<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>I did, and I can prove it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrismclaren.com\/blog\/wp-content\/images\/2009\/07\/my_rover_cert.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox\" title=\"Mars Rover Cert\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chrismclaren.com\/blog\/wp-content\/images\/2009\/07\/_my_rover_cert.jpg\" title=\"Mars Rover Cert\" alt=\"Mars Rover Cert\" width=\"400\" height=\"284\" class=\"aligncenter\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I partly did because hey, it&#8217;s Mars, and partly because one of my poker group works on the Mars Rover. I can get a lot of comedy out of &#8220;my participation&#8221; in the project. Sure, he did the mechanical engineering and figured out the mobility issues for the Rover&#8230; but I got my name on the microchip!<\/p>\n<p>Of course, there&#8217;s always the old science fiction angle about not telling THEM about US, and so perhaps I&#8217;m not being sufficiently cautious (unlike, say, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrismclaren.com\/blog\/wp-content\/images\/2009\/07\/safe.jpg\" title=\"Good thinking\" rel=\"lightbox\">this guy<\/a>). Maybe the only thing that will save me is that the world has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.ca\/search?source=ig&#038;hl=en&#038;rlz=&#038;=&#038;q=%22chris+mclaren%22&#038;btnG=Google+Search&#038;meta=lr%3D&#038;aq=f&#038;oq=\">a lot of Chris McLarens<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"excerpt\">Have you taken a moment to add your name to the 2011 Mars mission?
