Thompson Gonzo Tribute Beer\" class=\"alignright\"\/>It has been brought to my attention that <a href=\"http:\/\/flyingdogales.com\/\">Flying Dog<\/a>, a brewery in Colorado (not a bar in Waterloo!) is making a <a href=\"http:\/\/flyingdogales.com\/Gonzo.html\">Hunter S. Thompson Gonzo Tribute Beer<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Gonzo Imperial Porter will be released in early June in a unique Gonzo illustrated four pack. A limited edition, 750ml bottle will also be available from the brewery&#8217;s tasting room &#8211; the first 100 of these will be signed by Ralph Steadman.<\/p>\n<p>Like Hunter this beer is deep and complex. Gonzo Imperial Porter has been brewed with black, chocolate and crystal malts, and hopped with Millennium and Cascades. This is a turbo charged version of the Road Dog and at 9.5% ABV it will bite you in the ass if you don&#8217;t show it the proper respect.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Now, I like a nice chewy dark beer&#8211;given my druthers I will order a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.garrisonbrewing.com\/stout.html\">stout<\/a> or a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.drinkpropeller.ca\/beer\/ourProducts.html#porter\">porter<\/a> over pretty much any other type of beer&#8211;but I&#8217;ve rarely seen one that ran to 9.5% booze. That&#8217;d be like the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unibroue.com\/products\/maudite.cfm\">flying canoe beer<\/a> of porters. (Although, of course, it wouldn&#8217;t compare booze-wise to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrismclaren.com\/blog\/2005\/02\/28\/buy-this-for-me\/\">that other beer that I haven&#8217;t had a change to try<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>If only there was a way for me to get a few bottles of this&#8230; Sadly, I doubt that the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nsliquor.ca\/\">NSLC<\/a> will stock it. The shipping option that Flying Dog offers would cost upwards of $100US to ship me 6 bottles, so that&#8217;s right out.
