I mean it was shortened to &#8220;talk to the hand&#8221; pretty much from the word go, wasn&#8217;t it? And, my God, how long ago was that?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>You&#8217;re a right homie<\/strong> &#8211; You&#8217;re a good friend<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Actually, I kind of like this one. The combination of the definitely British Isles usage of &#8216;right&#8217; with the urban North American &#8216;homie&#8217; is kind of cute.<\/p>\n<p>My favourite thing from the article though&#8211;mostly because I intend to bother Doug Hern about it until the end of time&#8211;was this piece:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>You&#8217;re a Doug<\/strong> &#8211; You&#8217;re a square who is always ready to please your parents and you&#8217;re not even remotely interested in anything that smacks of teenage rebellion. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Note that <em>I am not making this up<\/em>. It&#8217;s in the article.
