One of the ways that I can lose time on the Internet–one of the myriad, myriad ways–is browsing through the contents of Flickr<\/a>. Sometimes I just search on strange<\/a> keywords<\/a>, or lyrics<\/a>, or the names of<\/a> perfomers<\/a>, just to see what comes up, and spent way more time than I intended flicking through the results.<\/p>\n

For example, this isn’t what I had pictured when Gabriel sings “Climbing up on Solsbury Hill \/ I could see the city light…” but it probably will be what I picture from now on:<\/p>\n

I don’t even remember what keywords turned up this one, but it was a great illustration when Sarah and I were discussing treants, and the secret world that most people don’t notice around them:<\/p>\n

Sometimes the keywords are more banal–like looking for pictures of places I’ve been or things I’ve heard talk of. For instance, when Trish and I were on our honeymoon in Ireland, there was a lot of news about Jeremy Irons and his pink castle. Now I know what it looks like:<\/p>\n

On that same trip we climbed to the summit of Croag Patrick<\/a>, but I didn’t the decent photos of the surrounding landscape that day because of the fog. It’s nice to correct that after the fact:<\/p>\n

And, of course, some of the images have been tweaked in interesting ways. I’m pretty sure this shot of the church in Rozsak Tere in Budapest has had some kind of HDR technique<\/a> applied to it, but it looks pretty cool.<\/p>\n
