I think this partly because I lived the first 20-some years of my life somewhere that winter brought a lot more snow and ice than we get here, and it wasn&#8217;t just taken for granted that any storm would result in power outages. Sigh. As I said to the guys at work, &#8220;You might think that snow, in winter, <em>in Canada<\/em>, was a use case that the power company might have prepared for&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Of course the 120km\/h winds we&#8217;re getting right now (that&#8217;s 75mph for the Yanks) are a bit more impressive than the standard storms where I grew up.<\/p>\n<p>I wonder how many more times my power will go out tonight, and how long for.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"excerpt\">Just got power back after the first outage of this storm.
