That&#8217;s what I said.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Daily Telegraph reports that The Association of the Sovereign Order of the Temple of Christ has launched a court case in Spain, demanding Pope Benedict \u201crecognise\u201d the seizure of assets worth \u20ac100bn. The Spanish-based group of Templars apparently says in a statement: &#8220;We are not trying to cause the economic collapse of the Roman Catholic Church, but to illustrate to the court the magnitude of the plot against our Order.&#8221; This might come as a surprise to those who believe that the order of warrior monks \u2013 also credited with possessing the Holy Grail and laying the foundation of the European banking system &#8211; was smashed in 1307 by Pope Clement V and Philip IV of France.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This makes me imagine <a href=\"http:\/\/www.instructables.com\/id\/Turn-the-Pope-into-Palpatine\/\">Pope Palpatine<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrismclaren.com\/blog\/2007\/07\/12\/roman-catholic-church-traveling-backwards-in-time\/\">The Inquisitor<\/a> sitting on his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrismclaren.com\/blog\/2008\/03\/26\/a-throne-is-a-throne\/\">pope throne<\/a>, doing the Mr. Burns hand-rub, and chuckling at the idea of how many lawyers he can afford with that \u20ac100bn.
