It’s been a crazy week at work, which is eating a lot into my personal time, but I don’t really write about the job here.<\/p>\n
That being said, apparently going to the weekly poker game with a lot of repressed anger fills in nicely for the “killer instinct” my poker play is usually lacking–since I dodecupled up tonight.<\/p>\n
Since work and poker have kept me away, let me get away with a lazy post about my favourite news story this week: 12 million bees in a highway accident<\/a>.<\/p>\n Apparently here in Atlantic Canada we truck millions of bees around all the time, taking them to places where crops need to be pollinated (and I do love my blueberries, so bless the little buzzers). This fact on its own cracks me up, but then you add in the idea of a gigantic “bee spill” on the highway and you’ve got gold.<\/p>\n Certainly the quote of the week goes to RCMP Sgt. Strong:<\/p>\n “In an unfortunate incident a journalist who was trying to get some bee noises on her microphone suffered a dozen or more stings. All in the name of journalism I guess, but it’s best to stay away from that area. Twelve million bees can do a lot of damage.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n You’ve got to be sergeant to to deliver “Twelve million bees can do a lot of damage” deadpan.<\/p>\n Unfortunately the bees mostly stayed with their hives, partly because of rain and partly because… well… that’s what bees do. This is somewhat less fun than my immediate mental vision of the 12 million bees dispersing in the surrounding environs creating a “high density bee zone” that would linger on for decades and result in both urban legends and open source honey.
