Looks to be another monster of a book. And, I’m thinking, we’re going to be seeing Enoch Root again.

I love to see that Pamela Dean is working on a new Liavek novel. I guess I shouldn’t be as surprised as I am, given that she had a Liavek story in Firebirds Rising. One of those small press publishers I mentioned below should totally bring those books back into print in a nice 5 volume edition (or maybe 5+1 with Ford’s novella), or a giant omnibus, or something.

I see a few things I will be buying on Pyr’s Fall/Winter list for this year. One of them is not Justina Robson‘s third Quantum Gravity book though, since I’ll be buying that in hardback from the UK publisher. (See previous Robson love here at Homo Sum, particularly the post about the first book in this series.) I see Amazon.co.uk is also listing an “untitled 1 of 2” for her for late 2009 as well, which is good news.

I would normally do a post of who would win each of the fiction categories were I king, from the Locus Awards finalists, but this year I’m skipping it. I couldn’t possibly make a pick in the Fantasy Novel category–there are three books there that can’t possibly not win that category, and being forced to choose among them is just too hard for me. Means a great year for readers, though. (There’s quite a few good things in the other fiction categories, but I could totally force myself to actually pick a winner in every one but Fantasy.)

Check out PodCastle, a new podcast of readings from in the F/SF genre.
