Well, the blog has been getting a ton of weird spam lately.<\/p>\n
I say “weird” because, unlike the normal comment spam, these posts have no links in their bodies, nor are the posters entering a URI to some casino or “pharmacy”. Instead they are anonymous comments that have no linkage at all, and contain what are clearly machine generated compliments on the blog.<\/p>\n
I am confused as to what the goal of these comments is, but in any case they are annoying, so I’ve added a simple validation routine on the comments–you will have to enter a simple randomly generated code in order to post a comment. (I would have like this to be a picture, but for some reason I haven’t been able to get that working yet–I may mess with that more tonight).<\/p>\n
The code I am using to generate and validate the code started as Keith McDuffee’s AuthImage plugin<\/a>, although I’ve done a little customizing, and intend to do more.
