I think I will use my new found powers of government persuasion to eliminate taxes and build myself a castle with budget surpluses. On a more serious note, I found it interesting that of the 5 e-mails I sent to various politicians (thanks to the suggestions in the "What You Can Do" article by Geist), I only got a response from my local MPP and the PM's office. The local MPP passed the buck (since it is a federal issue), but said he would keep the references I sent him in case he was involved in any conversations at the provincial level. The PM's office forwarded my message to minister Prentice. Both responses were from assistants and were non-form letter format, which was nice. I never got a response from of the others, including my local MP. I will remember that the next time there is an election Mr. Steckle.
