How I Welcomed Canada Day
Shortly after the clock ticked over into Canada Day last night, I was the proud recipient of this:
In addition to that lovely chunk of acrylic1 and the first place finish prize2, I get the satisfaction of being the first three-time tournament winner in the H.G.P.A.
I should also mention that this was the best tournament we’ve had yet, in terms of the quality of play at the table. It’s remarkable when I think back to tournaments even just a year or two ago.
And, even better than that, I received the lovely gift of being able to sleep in until 1:30PM today from my wife and daughter. While they were at a pancake breakfast and then celebrations at the Citadel, I happily slept for a 10 hour stretch, sleeping the sleep of the triumphant.

- Which, were we playing for cash would have been 50% of the tournament pot, but since we would never do that, is just the adulation of my peers.(back)
